Health
Immediate
first aid/emergency care is free for all visitors. After this patients
are charged for health care unless your country has a reciprocal
health agreement with the United Kingdom. Countries with this agreement
are:
All EU nations
(except Danish residents of the Faroe Islands), Anguilla, Australia,
Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Bulgaria, Channel Islands (only
if you are staying less than three months), Czech Republic, Falkland
Islands, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Malta (for stays up to 30
days), Montserrat, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russian
Federation, St Helena, Slovak Republic, Turks & Caicos Islands
and Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro).

Hospitals
If
you need an ambulance call 999 and give the operator a detailed
explanation of your location, and the nature of the emergency.
Accident and
emergency departments at local hospitals will treat serious injury
and sudden illness. If it is not an emergency you should go to a
doctor. The following hospitals have 24-hour walk-in accident and
emergency departments.

Chemists operate on a late-night rota. Details of your late-night
chemists are usually listed in your local press. In an emergency,
you must go to a hospital accident & emergency department.

Treatment
The National
Health Service Line can provide you with details of local dentists.
In order to receive emergency treatment you must register with a
local dentist. Once you have done so you are eligible for 24-hour
emergency treatment at NHS dental practices.
