A romantic and elegant Victorian country house hotel, Tigh Na Sgiath is set in 2.5 acres of mature wooded grounds and gardens in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands. Spectacular "Monarch of the Glen" scenery, breathtaking sunsets and the everchanging vista of the day make it an almost spiritual experience to relax in the tranquillity that is Speyside.

Tigh na Sgiath Country House Hotel (gaelic for house on the wing/edge) was originally built for the Mackenzie Family, founders of the Mackinnon Mackenzie shipping line. The house was later sold to the Lipton Tea and grocery family, and then to Major Scott and Lady Scott Hartley, famous for their jam making business.

In succession, the families used the house as their country retreat, taking advantage of the
exceptional shooting and fishing in the surrounding area. It is rumoured that Lady Scott Hatley loved the house so much she never left it and her ghost can be heard climbing the stairs from the cellar - when the house is very still and quiet.

The hotel is now owned and personally run by Iain and Elaine MacDonald-Coulter, who after many years in the hotel business on the West Coast of Scotland have made Tigh na Sgiath House their home. The atmosphere is a relaxed and graceful homely ambiance thanks to the original features that have been retained throughout the house such as the open log fires, extensive rich wood panelling and the ornate cornicing.

The magnificent richly panelled staircase rises from the reception hall to the accommodation on the two floors above. Each bedroom affords stunning views of the surrounding countryside and distant hills. Each room was originally designed to express its own individuality - each bedroom has Colour TV, Tea/Coffee making facilities with Speyside Shortbread, herbal teas, fresh fruit, Highland mineral water, bath robes, fresh floral arrangements and luxury toiletries.
