Coming by Plane: Either get a taxi or use the airport bus. The bus is a limited stop one and you will have to get off the bus just past Drumbrae (almost opposite PC World and Mcdonalds. Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and walk down Meadow Place Road. At the next set of traffic lights (Tesco and Police Station) turn left. Walk along and take the second right, Ladywell Avenue, and the next road on the left is Dovecot Road. My home is the second last one on the left hand side, next door to the Dovecot.
Coming from the airport by car, come out of the airport and take the A8 to the left (Edinburgh). Keep in the right hand lane and go under the road at Gogar. Keep on this road until your reach Drumbrae roundabout, McDonalds and PC World on your right. At that point turn right and at the next set of traffic lights (Tesco and Police Station) turn left. Take the second right and the next road on the left is Dovecot Road. My home is the second last one on the left hand side, next door to the Dovecot.
From Waverly Station (train): Come out of the station following the signs for Princes Street/Tourist Information Office. There is a bus stop directly outside the Tourist Office . However if you are not too heavily laden I would advise to walk west (towards the Scott monument) to the next bus stop where there is a choice of 3 buses. The bus stops all have the bus numbers on them. If you decide to get a bus outside the Tourist Office the number to get is the 31. Please have the right change as the driver will not give change. If you walk to the next bus stop along Princes Street you can get any of the following 3 buses-12, 26 or 31. They are all very frequent so you should not have long to wait. They all follow the same route and cost the same. You get off the bus at Kirk Loan which is next to Blockbuster Video shop, a much better land mark. Ask anybody on the bus for Blockbuster in Corstorphine. When you get off the bus walk down Kirk Loan to the bottom. At the T junction turn left and Dovecot Road is the second street on the right. 2a is the second house on the right hand side.
Coming from South eventually reaching the bypasss, the A720: On reaching the bypass head west towards the airport. Keep on this road until the end, the Gogar roundabout . At this point Marks and Spencer is on your right. At the Gogar roundabout turn right towards Edinburgh on the A8. Keep on this road until your reach Drumbrae roundabout. McDonalds and PC World on your right. At that point turn right and at the next set of traffic lights (Tesco and Police Station) turn left. Take the second right and the next road on the left is Dovecot Road. My home is the second last one on the left hand side, next door to the Dovecot.
Coming from Fife (M90): Cross the Forth Bridge and head down the A90 towards Edinburgh. You will reach a junction with traffic lights (Barnton). Go straight through the lights and then take the right hand lane as you will be turning right at the next set of traffic lights... This is Drumbrae. Turn right onto Drumbrae. Go up the hill and down the other side to the roundabout where you will see PC World and McDonalds on one corner. Go straight through the roundabout and at the next set of traffic lights (Tesco and Police Station) turn left. Then take the second right into Ladywell Avenue. Dovecot Road is the next road on the left and my home is the second last one on the left hand side.
Coming from Stirling (M9): Take the M9 towards Edinburgh. Don't bother with any other scenic routes. As you get closer to Edinburgh follow the signs for the airport (A8) You will have to get into the left hand lane for this. This is at Newbridge Roundabout. Go along the A8 past the airport and then get into the right hand lane and go under the road at Gogar roundabout.
