Lomond & Trossachs National Park
Loch Lomond is the most famous Scottish Loch after the Loch
Ness. Close to Glasgow, there are plenty of walks and marked trails
through the woods and onto the peaks.
The park covers four distinctly different areas:

Ben Lomond standing guard over Loch Lomond, the largest expanse
of freshwater in the UK
- The Trossachs, wild glens and sparkling lochs between Callander
and Aberfoyle
- Breadalbane, the high country of the north, with some of Scotland’s
finest mountains, Ben Lui, Ben Challum, Ben More and Ben Vorlich
-The Argyll Forest of the Cowal peninsula in the shadow of the Arrochar
Alps and bordered by sea lochs.

The
West Highland Way
The
West Highland Way is 152km (95 miles) long. The walk links Milngavie
to Fort William - from the outskirts of Scotland’s largest
city to the foot of its highest mountain, following the shores of
its largest freshwater loch.
It
passes from the lowlands, across the Highland Boundary Fault and
on into the Scottish Highlands. Much of the Way follows ancient
and historic routes of communication.

Ben Nevis
Ben
Nevis is the highest mountain in the country at 1344m (4406ft) and
probably the most climbed in the UK. There are many routes to the
top of Ben Nevis. For everyday walkers there is a reasonably comfortable
route from the Aichenee Farm however it is a good 5 hour walk up
and another 3 hours to come down.
For
climbers the cliffs on the north east side of Ben Nevis have long
been favourites with climber's.
