Our magnificent Cruachan Restaurant runs for over half the loch side frontage of the hotel. The excellent menus are complimented by the superb views from the tables. The cuisine is modern Scottish. The cuisine covers all tastes by providing a full range of food including an extensive choice of vegetarian meals. When you want to relax, read a book or just enjoy a quiet drink in our panoramic conservatory, which offers truly spectacular views of the east side and northern end of the loch. |
From the conservatory you can see Ben cruachan, also called the Hollow Mountain, due to the hydro electric dam. The dam is located halfway up the mountain and we recommend that guests take a closer look at this marvel of engineering by taking a tour at the visitors centre on loch Awe. The hotel also serves breakfast every morning in the conservatory with the panoramic views providing a spectacular backdrop to this important meal of the day, which includes a range of traditional Scottish fare. |
After a long day exploring the area you can retire to our bar which stocks over 30 Highland malts and an extensive range of drinks which caters for all tastes. If you wish for a lighter meal, a full bar menu is available at very reasonable prices. You can access the conservatory from the bar and therefore enjoy a splendid meal in comfort whilst soaking in the surrounding scenery. |
Our guest lounge is a comfortable and cosy area where you can browse through our library, sit and play board games or just relax in front of the fire. This room is steeped in history and has ambience that must be experienced for you to understand the very special place in history this hotel enjoys. Occasionally throughout the day guests will be able to experience the joys of the pipes. |

Loch Awe is Scotland's premier 'Wild' fishing loch. The 27 mile long fresh water loch is home to a wide assortment of fish. You can catch Char, Salmon, Pike and Trout, both Brown and Rainbow. Loch Awe held the record for the largest Brown Trout caught in Britain in the year 2000 with a weight just shy of 32lbs. There is no need to pay for an expensive permit when staying at our hotel, we allow our guests to fish for free on our land. The game season for Salmon and Trout is from mid March to mid October. Course fishing for Perch, Roach and Pike is all year round. Golfing is also possible around the Loch Awe area. There are plenty of local courses one can play around the hotel, most within a 1/2 hour drive. Boating on Loch Awe: boats can be obtained at the hotel by booking with the reception staff. It is advised that you book the night before you wish to use the boat. |
