By Car
You will find the castle on the A938, Grantown-on-Spey - Carrbridge road, 500 yards from Dulnain Bridge and 6 miles from Carrbridge. It is at only 30 miles south of Inverness Airport and Inverness: Go down south on the A9 for about 35-40 kilometers. Then turn left on the A938, in direction of Carrbridge. Follow the signs to Muckrach Lodge, and take the first entry (there are 2 of them), and turn straight left, in what seems to abe a field (do not go up the Lodge). You will see the path to the castle (beware, it can be quite mucky on rainy days!).
Edinburgh and Glasgow are at about 2.5 hours away by car via the A9. The key 'turnoff' on the A9 northbound form Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth is the A95 north of Aviemore which you follow all the way until the junction with the A938 - you turn left onto this road and Muckrach is well signposted on your right.
By Train
The most convenient stations is doubtless Aviemore's, at only 12 miles away. From there you can take a taxi and drive up to the hotel.
By Plane
You will land in Inverness Dalcross Airport, just 30 miles north from Dulnain Bridge. From there, you'd better rent a car and drive down to Dulnain Bridge following the instructions given above. |
