  • At what time can we check-in and out?
    All accommodations, Check In from 2pm, Check Out before 10pm.
  • Is the price per room/apartment or per person?
    Most of our prices are per person, however we sometimes offer a discount room rate for families.
  • Is breakfast included in the price and what type of breakfast?
    An extensive continental breakfast is included in all our prices, unless otherwise stated.
  • Is heating included in the price?
    Full central heating is included in the price.
  • Can we settle the bill on arrival?
    The full bill must be paid on arrival.
  • Which languages are spoken at the reception?
    English, conversational German, Urdu, and Panjabi are spoken at reception, depending on who is available.
  • How many floors are there in the building and do you have an elevator (lift) in the building?
    There is a ground floor and a first floor in the building. We do not have a lift, but we do have a ground floor room for guests with disabilities and there are not many steps to the first floor.
  • Are there quiet, private, romantic rooms?
    We have rooms at the back of the house providing a peaceful atmosphere.
  • Are linens and towels provided or do I need to bring my own?
    Linens and towels are provided.
  • Do the rooms/apartments have a terrace/courtyard?
    We have a front garden with pleasant flowers available for guests to enjoy.
  • Do the rooms/apartments have a balcony?
    No.
  • Do you have non smoking rooms/apartments?
    Minto House is a fully non smoking guest house.
  • Is there a TV in the rooms/apartments? Are there international channels (satellite or cable TV)?
    We have colour television in all the rooms with the local scottish channels.
  • Is there a telephone with direct dialling in the rooms/apartments?
    Unfortunately we do not have telephones in the rooms, however there is a payphone and internet cafe nearby.
  • Is there air conditioning in the rooms/apartments? Is there any extra charge for this? Is it seasonal?
    Air conditioning is simply not necessary in Scotland! We can provide fans on request at no extra cost.
  • Is there a dining room where we could sometimes all dine together?
    We have a dining room which can hold up to 14 people at once.
  • Do you have an Internet/E-Mail point in the Property?
    We do not have an internet point for guests, but there are many local Internet cafes.
  • Is there a swimming pool? When is it open?
    We are round the corner from the Edinburgh Commonwealth which is open everyday and provides public gym and swimming facilities.
  • Is parking or garage available?
    We have private parking available, please request at time of booking.
  • Where can we rent a car?
    There is a rental station at the airport, and also in many locations around the city.
  • Which is the nearest airport?
    Edinburgh International Airport is closest.
  • Do you have a pickup or shuttle service from and to the airport?
    There is a shuttle service to the city centre (no. 100) from where there is a variety of busses to take you to us, or it is a twenty minute walk.
  • Which is the nearest bus-stop?
    There is a bus stop accross the road.
  • Which is the nearest railway station?
    Edinburgh Waverley station.
  • Is there a fitness center in the Property (Gym, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Turkish bath...)?
    No, but we are near to the Commonwealth pool which provides such facilities, including a pulse centre.
  • Are pets welcome?
    Much though we love animals, we cannot allow guests to bring pets.
  • Is there a restaurant in the Property?
    There are many restaurants in the street, but not in the property.
  • Can I connect my modem so that I can surf the Internet from my room/apartment?
    We do not have an Internet point for guests or Internet connection in the rooms, but there are many local internet cafes.
