Please pass my best regards to the hotel management and staff for a wonderful stay that I really enjoyed. Also, personal gratitude to Lidiya and Colin, whose assistance and guidance of the city was of real help. ... The view from the window to the river (the Water of Leith) shall be definitely posted in photo section. It's wonderful and charming. ... I'd recommend the hotel, saying it's a fantastic Victorian-styled place adjacent to the center of the city. Staff's always polite and friendly. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Everything is fine. In general, a nice place to stay exploring of Edinburgh.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. They were able to give good clear directions and give suggestions of interesting and fun things to do. I will definately send friends and family to the Melvin House. The Manager was there to meet when I arrived at 6 am.

The Melvin House was a wonderful place to stay. My daughter pronounced our room to be 'the best hotel room ever'. We will certainly choose the Melvin House again, if we, hopefully, are able to return to Edinburgh, Scotland in the future. Larry Weber Hidden Hills, California ... Wish it were longer. ... A stately 19th century mansion with great rooms, great views, and a quiet neighborhood.

We took a taxi from the airport so we didn't need any directions beside the address. ... The hotel is not a five star and the downstairs room are a little shabby, but it was never advertised as a five star and it was perfectly fine. The woodwork is just magnificent. ... The dollar is so week against the pound that it is hard to determine if the price was fair. If an American wants to travel abroad you just have to pay the tariff or not go. ... No ... Very nice midpriced hotel in a very good location, within walking distance of Princes Street. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is excellent.

I don't remember getting any instructions online and I did get lost finding the hotel.
... The Melvin House was WONDERFUL, just beyond all expectations. We were so happy to have found it! ... It was simple and well organized. ... Maybe you shouldn't let people know how beautiful it is, how delicious and generous the breakfasts are, what a quiet nice area of town it is in, what the views are like . . . otherwise everyone will come flooding in. ... Quiet, gracious, in a good location, expensive (for us!) but well worth the price, beautiful. You really can't do better in Edinburgh.

Very nice hotel; staff was helpful and friendly. ... Not a reflection on the property, but having just come from Glasgow I found Edinburgh to be relatively much more expensive for accommodations. I suppose it's just a bigger tourist centre and it was high season.

We were disappointed with breakfast, the eggs and bacon were both very overcooked, so much so that one of our party could not eat theirs. ... Would recommend.
