 The 3rd and 4th floors command views over the mighty Firth of Forth and look to the Kingdom of Fife beyond. Built in 1885 featuring marble, granite, brass, Edinburgh sandstone and the finest timbers of the "British Empire", Melvin House is a fascinating building. It was built by John Ritchie Findlay (Publisher of the Scotsman newspaper) to exhibit his wealth and status in Edinburgh Society - and all the notable politicians and writers of the day were guests here. |
