The world famous
Scottish Highland Games are annual festivals that celebrate Scottish
culture. They take place in parks all over Scotland, usually from
May to September.
During this period Scottish people celebrate their cultural heritage
through sport and traditional music; piping, bands, Scottish harp,
the ceilidh, and folk dancing.
In the Highland Games, the Scottish Clans (surname groups associated
with a region of origin) compete in athletic competitions (light
athletics, heavy athletics, Scottish wrestling, tug-of-war).
