Staying ad Duthus Lodge was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had travelling. Murdo (owner) was very courteous and helpful, and the place was spotless. I'd recommend it to anyone. The location is also great, and the pictures on the website don't do it justice. Very quaint. Thanks Murdo! -Mark ... The value of the US Dollar against the Pound made for an expensive stay, but that's no reflection on the establishment. ... Very welcoming host and his cuddly bulldog was very friendly as well. ... We were not really happy with our room on arrival - no windows (even though clean, tidy etc.) but it was no trouble to our hosdt to move us to a room that suited us much better. He was extremely helpful and friendly overall. ... Very helpful (taxi ordering, help with luggage). ... Duthus Lodge is a warm, welcoming homestay, close to the city, with an obliging host and a loveable bulldog (Findlay) to add atmosphere. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated; breakfast is enormous and the Lodge itself is a solid piece of Edinburgh architecture that makes one feel, even if only briefly, a part of the history of the town.

We arrived very late at night because we had some problem during the trip. The owner received very well and opened his house to us. ... Anytime I will go to Edimburgh, I will come back again ... none ... none ... We feel a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere there. Francisco.

We loved the B&B, were especially fond of Finlay! Directions did not indicate that one side of the street had one name while the side with the B&B had a different name. Also, while it wasn't a bad walk to the major attractions, it wasn't the 'just minutes' walk advertised. ... Was told cash or credit card was acceptable, upon check out was told there was a 3% charge for using a CC....that should have been stated somewhere before hand ... see above Please note...it was a very clean, lovely home, we'd go back and we'd recommend. We loved their dog! ... see above

The bathroom was a little small. ... They have a very good breakfast. They asked us which kind of food we would like to have for breakfast. According with our answer they included some extra that they don't give to other guests. They just wanted to satisfy us without any charge. ... It's a charming place to stay. We were in 4 differents b&b in Scotland, this was the best.
