we were made to feel at home and very welcome immediately, such a warm atmosphere in the Dene guest house, and absolutely immaculate.

we will definetly be using the guest house again,as we travel to edinburgh every year and always used hotels before,not any more, will be recommending to all my colleagues.

as our flight wasnt until late afternoon, lydia provided us with somewhere to store our cases while we did some last minute shopping,and a key to let ourselves in and out until ready to leave for the airport.

home from home only without the cooking and cleaning, and the breakfasts are delicious and lovely and hot ,just how i like it, nothing too much trouble .

We had been delayed by a flood upon the railway between Carlisle & Edinburgh; however our landlady although tired after an early start remained available and provided us with a welcome and all the information we required

I have already recommended the DENE guest house to friends intending to visit Edinburgh and would stay at the DENE again myself (very good food, rooms etc which contributed to an enjoyable stay in Edinburgh).

Excellent service here - we were able to leave our baggage (despite having checked out) having agreed to collect it later that afternoon - we then enjoyed an extra morning in Edinburgh as a bonus of our stay.

An excellent breakfast; also a guest house suitable for vegetarians & non-smokers.

An ok place to stay. walking distance from shopping, a nice quiet place with not much trafic.

I did not expect to receive the extensive breakfast that we received - there was a selection of serials, fruit, yoghurt and full proper breakfast of egg + bacon and toast - it was great!!

The web site makes it sound like the hotel is nearby the main road - Princes streer - however personally I thought it was a BIT of a walk - I would advise them to take the bus which is very cheap, on time and friendly

Very friendly. My room wasn't ready but i was able to leave my bags which was very helpful.

Very helpful owner. I was attending a yoga weekend and was able to eat breakfast much earlier than the stated time or I would not have been able to do any yoga! The same for the day I left as my flight was early but Lydie said that i could let myself into the breakfast room and eat breakfast before I left.

A wonderful spacious house situated very near the city centre and train/bus station. Good accommodation, beautiful breakfast room and a lovely friendly manager in Lydie Julienne.

I think we were just given the actual address of the guest house as opposed to directions. Directions would have been v. helpful. Apologies, if we were given them and I misplaced them.

Unfortunately, the room was cold and there was a very dusty paper lampshade handing from the ceiling which did not give a good impression. Also the toilet had not been cleaned properly. The staff however were extremely friendly and helpful.

I would not say I'd not stay there again, but I'd want a better room with some heating. The Scotts are hardened to the cold.
