This is the home of Isobel and Jimmy and upon our arrival, they were there to meet my husband and myself plus the couple with whom we were traveling. They showed us to our rooms and the breakfast room. They were a very nice and friendly couple and gave us information on where to catch the bus which was just a very sort distance from their home. Since it was already late in the day and we were anxious to get into Edinburgh, Isobel suggested a couple of places we may wish to visit in the remaining few hours of the day.

This is a large lovely old 3-story Georgian home and Jimmy and Isobel live in the lower flat. They have flowers along the sidewalk entrance, and through the entrance gate is a small flower garden with benches for relaxing just outside their door. It's a very welcoming entrance court. The home is very clean and well maintained. The two guest bedrooms are quite large and the king-sized beds are extremely comfortable. There are bowls of fruit, a tray with coffee, various teas, sweets, etc as well as a pitcher of milk in the refrigerator. Ours was a very homey and comfortable room. Our friend with whom we were traveling became ill during the night and was unable to tour with us the following day. Isobel offered to prepare him a sandwich for lunch and was at home with him during the day should he have needed anything.

We had to catch a cab at 6:00 a.m. in order to catch the train to Perth. Isobel called the night before and reserved the cab for us. She was up to see us off when it arrived. Judging by what the hotels in Edinburgh costs, I would say this is an extremely good value for the money plus the price includes an excellent breakfast and wonderful hospitality from the hosts.

The website is very accurate on the description of Blacket Garden Flat, except it is shows better when you are actually there than it does on the website with the flower garden entrance and how comfortable the rooms actually are with their wooden floors, area rugs, antique furniture, etc. One can tell a lot of love and thought has gone into the decorating of this home. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this lovely home or our stay there.

This home was a wonderful welcome for us to Scotland. It was comfortable, homey, very clean, nice clean bathrooms with soaps, towels, washcloths, etc.; everything provided to make a guest feel welcome. Jimmy and Isobel are wonderful friendly people. I cannot say enough good things about Blacket Garden Flat and am so glad I chose this as our first place to stay upon arrival in Scotland. We would definitely stay there again anytime.

It was a little difficult to find the bed and breakfast because we did not have the specific address and the gate was back from the street a little. It is probably our own fault for not writing down the address, but I would suggest to anyone going to note the street number. The map was very helpful otherwise.

Toilet was a bit small and the shower flow was a little low.

We did not know it was the lower unit of a house.

As a garden flat the room was rather dark and cool.Despite this it was most comfortable and a lot of attention to detail had been utilised .Our hosts were very friendly ,helpful and welcoming.Loved the dining room which looked like the 'small paintings' room at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition
