The staff was friendly, was helpful in giving advice and information about Edinburgh, and responded cheerfully to every request The Scottish breadfasts were very good and were a great way to stsrt the day. ... A friendly small hotel in a quiet parklike setting. A brisk walk over Calton Hill park gets you to the main part of the city so you can easily explore the city on foot.

Sorry - don't remember seeing directions, but I'd already looked it up. Glad we were there on a weekend, as parking otherwise might have been a problem. ... Had problems with the shower water running hot and cold. Otherwise, extremely nice facility and wonderful location. ... Lovely old place, once one of the homes of the elite in Edinburgh, around the corner from Holyroodhouse Palace, and only 10-15 minute walk to center of activities. Really liked the hotel.

The breakfast menu is conventaional and boring. ... Open views from the room windows. No elevator. ... Quiet, cosy, elegant old house on a large quiet street, central location.

Our TV did not have a remote. Management said it had been stolen. A light bulb was burned out.
