Mountaineering and Rock Climbing
Scotland's
craggy mountains provide a huge variety of mountain sports for those
who are inspired by snow, ice and rock. Climbing highlights include
Ben Nevis, Glencoe and the Cairngorms, and the coastal sandstone
sea stacks around John O'Groats and the Orkney Islands.
Climbing
in Scotland changes with the seasons and snow and ice often completely
transforms an area as far as climbing goes. Areas that are virtually
unclimbable in the summer can often become a magnificent ice-filled
playgrounds in the winter.
Whether
you are a mountain walker, an ice climber or a rock climber, Scotland
has some of the best rock climbing in the UK, in the most spectacular
scenery.
